With Hive's birthday just around the corner, and the new tool as per my yesterday's post here where every hive user can now have a new website FREE and in addition to their blog - I thought that it was a great time to start creating something I have stalled for a long time.
A hive guide!
As you definitely know, it has been a wild ride these past 6 years.
So many things have happened (and are happening) that it is not easy to keep up to.
Different dApps and new users / developerse are creating so many amazing things.
Hive even has Prediction platforms, and not one but two! (I forgot to include this in the guide, but it will be included in the next update, following your comments and feedback)
I know there have been a lot of guides, but I feel like I need to have my own - to know what is inside, to know when it is updated and to use whenever I need to reference something.
For this guide, (I do not want to hide it) I also used AI such as Gemini, ChatGPT,Perplexity) - I checked, corrected, combined, edited, added information but of course - as you all know -
You can never really write everything about hive - things are constantly updated/upgraded etc
Below you will see what my hive guide includes, at the moment it is in a google document as I build it and the plan is for it to become an e-book and to be given free.
Synopsis below (AI Generated)
Please let me know of your feedback and additions, I have already thought of a few things, but please let me know!
“The Ultimate Beginner’s Guide to Hive” introduces readers to Hive blockchain, a fast, feeless, and community-driven Web3 ecosystem designed for social media, gaming, and decentralized applications.
The guide begins by explaining Hive’s core concept as a blockchain where users can create content, interact, and earn rewards without transaction fees, thanks to its Resource Credit system. It highlights Hive’s origin in 2020 as a fork of Steem, emphasizing its mission to ensure decentralization and community ownership.
It then breaks down how Hive works using Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS), where users vote for witnesses who validate transactions and maintain the network. Readers are introduced to Hive’s ecosystem of dApps—such as blogging platforms, games, and NFT marketplaces—where a single account unlocks multiple services.
The guide also explains Hive’s token economy (HIVE, HBD, and Hive Power), showing how users can earn, stake, and participate in governance. It outlines different user roles (creators, curators, developers, investors) and practical ways to engage, from blogging and microblogging to gaming and building apps.
Finally, it presents Hive’s key advantages—no fees, fast transactions, and true ownership of content—while also addressing challenges like the learning curve, market volatility, and governance dynamics.
👉 Overall, the guide positions Hive as a powerful Web3 alternative to traditional platforms, where users are not just participants but active stakeholders in a decentralized digital economy.
