It doesn't matter what we think about this – the above named tags, among others, have been determined by the communities/guilds some time ago. We are not in a position to determine any main language tags on HIVE. We can only refer to existing or emerging cross-platform rules made by the communities and contribute to the effective expansion of these language spaces. This has been done for the above named tags. For Spanish, #sp was also used before, but since it's almost inactive, we left it out of the list to bring things into one clear direction here. But this is definitely as far as we will go.
As members of the German-speaking community, we can state 100% that #deutsch is correct for content in the German language.
The Dutch-speaking users have to choose between #dutch, #nl or other possible options. The thing is if it were #dutch, you would have committed a "mistake/tag abuse" (among others, also using #nl) here, since it would be used for content in Dutch language only. Don't get me wrong, but I hope you can understand/see that this is a concern of the Dutch-speaking community on HIVE and has to be decided by its members.
We are very happy to provide this service for Dutch as well, or even to help with the decision making, but we don't decide about such things. Unfortunately, no clear statement can be made based on our data (1 post (linked above) in the last 5 days written in Dutch language without any language tags set.) here because #dutch or #nl is not bound to the language as it seems so far (collected data).
