While I had bursts of activity on Steem, it's been a long, long time since I have blogged this actively over a 2 week period. I have made nearly 2 posts every day - the last time I was this active was way back in early 2017. It's the most unusual of circumstances that has made this possible. Hive being a thing has definitely been a novelty, though in the medium term, this one's probably going to fade out. Of course, that split, being isolated with very little of my possessions at hand, very little to do, and a lot of free time.
I've always enjoyed writing across a variety of topics. The ones I enjoy most are games, movies and science. For the last couple of weeks, I have been mostly writing gaming content, and I'm enjoying it a lot. Just the writing keeps me going, and I've an itch to write about a game every day.
Things are not so great on Hive, there's a tiny userbase, minimal engagement, though I'm delighted with the occasional replies I do get. Rewards are pretty decent all considered, I seem to have a regular base of readers who enjoy reading my content. (Thanks for all the support, btw!)
In the past, I would go back to being inactive after a burst of activity. This time it's different. I'm enjoying writing, and I'll keep going. Of course, at some point, things will get back to normal, and I'll probably slow down. I do ask myself whether I should post this content on a better platform than Steem or Hive, but I obviously have an emotional connection with this community, and I'd like to keep supporting Hive with content and curation, even if I would be personally better off going to a larger platform.
I've been cross-posting a selection of my posts on Steem - the engagement there seems to be even lower, but however, there are a lot of casual and infrequent users who are still using Steem. Especially a lot of old time followers from back in the day. Over time I'll probably switch to being exclusive on Hive, but I do hope both platforms can grow and thrive. As I have written multiple times over the years, I think there's a ton of things to fix and overhaul before any of that happens though. For now, though, I'm going to continue writing about gaming, and maybe some other topics in the future.
