Do you believe a downvote is an "attack?"
Damn wrote up a long reply and thought it posted yet it seems to have disappeared. The long and short of it was that although the mechanics of downvoting does not appeal to me, in its present form, it can be a means of enforcing agreed upon community guidelines like paid bot voting; yet to downvote someone because you don't like there opinion about something seems like an attack against free speech at the very least.
You are judging my character for self voting.
My judging was concerning your actions and this discussion was an attempt to perhaps change your thoughts in that regard, so it was not meant on a personal level; though if you feel like you have been judged personally your view is respected and apologies already given.
I want people like you to come and argue with me in a heated way.
We seemed to have achieved that outcome to some degree. 🙂
I do not like you twisting things and taking them out of context to fit your own narrative.
If that is the way it came off to you, then apologies given.
Hive is hive and nothing more.
Much of the community are STEEM refugees. More than half of the top 20 witnesses are the same that were there upon my arrival in 2016. The Spanish community is probably the biggest growth of the HIVE community since the hard fork from STEEM.
I am not bitter. I am emotional. There is a difference.
You do not strike me as bitter. You, literally, have a lot at stake so it is understandable that you would have strong opinions concerning the project. The fork from STEEM upset me a great deal and both my STEEM and newly acquired HIVE (was a Dolphin at the time) were swapped for ETH. Over the next 4 years ETH 10x'ed. Sold it off to buy my 36 foot Cabot-36 floating condo two summers ago. My return after a couple of years was for the old connections in the community. My opinion of HIVE/STEEM is that it is a flawed experiment and will fade away like AOL is still doing after all this time. In the meantime it houses my ship's log and other personal projects and observations.
You tried to take something I did and take it out of context by applying steem days to it.
Pretty sure most of the community would consider self voting an abuse of the reward pool. A poll may be interesting to see if that has changed much.
If we want to onboard new users, forcing them to reminisce about steem (which frankly sounds like either hell or purgatory) is not a recipe for success and drives user like myself, who want to invest in the ecosystem, away.
Countless users have been driven from the platform from the use/misuse of downvoting. My non-financial advise is to not invest in this broken platform; whose flaws were revealed by the fork and the way the last $2 million investor was treated. That investor is now a welcome visitor in the White House and his TRON coin (which he wanted to have the ability to atomic swap with HIVE) is now trading at $0.40+USD. How different things may have been had the greedy Witness Cabal not sent the community asunder with their greed driven fork. We'll never know now.
