La leyenda del claro del nibelungo

No hay más extraña leyenda en las tierras agrestes que aquella que habla del claro del nibelungo. Un ser antiquísimo y poderoso que, se cree que guarda a los animales y a la foresta de los hombres, que por naturaleza son destructores. Muchas son las versiones de esta leyenda que giran en torno a él, quien es el que es, y de la fuente de su conocimiento y poder.
En algunas comarcas de la región, se afirma que es un ser sobrenatural que guarda el bosque con celo y abnegación, así como a quienes se pierden en la vastedad de aquella inmensa región.
Otros afirman que el nibelungo es, un antiguo hechicero que, en busca de inconmensurable poder enloqueció y uno con la naturaleza se volvió, convirtiéndose en un loco ermitaño que hace mucho murió y desapareció.
Se cuenta que para llegar a su cubil, hay que ascender por cascadas y montañas, tratando de alcanzar las profundidades del bosque, cerca de su corazón, donde son más tupidas las ramas de los samanes, la foresta es más espesa y los animales son más osados y salvajes.

Allí, solo hay pocos claros, que son iluminados en días de mucho sol o en las noches de luna llena. Y es durante estos momentos, donde el gran nibelungo hace acto de presencia.
Algunos afirman que este extraño ser, es un fauno más, de los muchos que habitan en las profundidades del bosque de las Tierras Agrestes.
Otros afirman, que el nibelungo es un antiguo druida que, seguidor de creencias antiguas, alcanzó una conexión muy cercana con la foresta y que al final, se convirtió en guardián de esta, cuan elfo del oeste protegería sus bosques, con la magia de la naturaleza.
Muchos han asegurado verlo sembrar semillas de samán por toda la comarca, como si de un jardinero o botánico se tratase. Es por ello que se le dice nibelungo, que en lenguas muertas significa "agricultor de la tierra".
Otros que le han visto regresar a los niños perdidos en el bosque a sus poblados, resguardándolos de los peligros de aquellos bosques encantados...
