The News
It seems we live in turbulent times with terrible things happening around the world. Some of it is down to selfish and greedy people who will try to deflect problems to others such as immigrants and others who do not 'fit in'. I am more wary of the billionaires. The current upshot is another drop in crypto prices as the investors look for more secure assets. I am in Hive for the long run, so I will ride this out and I am sure many others will too.
Note that $BLURT had a little blip that did not last long. Maybe someone actually bought some as the volume is generally insignificant. I do not expect everyone to buy $HIVE, but if more people can hang onto what they earn and use it to curate then it ought to help us all.
I have neglected to mention some Hive events that are happening around the world. In August there is Hive Summit Aachen (Germany). Then next April there is Hive Creator Days in Alicante (Spain). Then of course there is in Malaysia in October. I am not sure which of these I will get to, but I can recommend meeting up with other Hivers to be inspired. I did see that some people are meeting up recently at the Hive Hub run by
in Guatemala. That may be somewhere to plan a trip to.
Friday Follows
- I get a lot of Hive news from
who does a weekly post that can overlap with mine, but tends to go into more detail.
has some interesting posts on Eaqrly Music. This is not an area I know much about, but Hive can be educational.
is a writer who has been here even longer than me. He has some thoughts on why people should be here that match up with my own.
- Drummer
is giving away some drum samples that anyone can use in their music. I know we have lots of people who could make some cool music with them.
- The Hive rally driver
has some bad luck in Sardinia, but he is getting the brand out there.
The Dog House
Just last week I put us all in the Dog House for not retaining new users. You can see some statistics on how various projects are doing at this. In many cases over 90% of those they onboard do not stick around. OCDB does about the best, but we have to learn from our mistakes.
If you sell Hive as an easy way to earn then of course people will give up. Making 10c for a post is not a huge incentive for most, but I feel it has other advantages. We have a lot of freedom here that cannot be taken for granted on other platforms that will bombard you with ads and 'suggested content' that you do not really care about. The Hive experience is minimalist in comparison, but you can follow the people who will make your feed interesting.
The End
I have done these posts most weeks for years for my own enjoyment and to try to give some value to others. I believe in Hive and want others to have a good experience. That comes from being social and doing what you enjoy. Those who try to exploit it unfairly are not likely to prosper. Our community is small, but very smart.
