The News

As usual I will start with a price chart and it is still not too cheery. I do not think we are heading to zero, but it could be better. The value of Hive is not just in the price as we can do all sorts of things that would earn us nothing on other platforms. We also have freedoms that are hard to find elsewhere.

I am sure a lot of people use Hive Vote to automate their voting as well as other actions. We now have the voting part within Hive account@peakd. You can use it to support users and projects that you like.

The Hive account@tenkminnows project has been running for years and has helped many people to upgrade their accounts. Another bunch graduated and so more will replace them. Suggestions are welcomed for candidates, but check the conditions.

There is so much happening around Hive with people creating all sorts of applications. It is attractive to developers as it is free and fast. Hive can store all sorts of data so there is a lot going on that has nothing to do with the blogging side such as the Hive account@podping podcast notification system from Hive account@brianoflondon. From what I have heard there is plenty of scope for this to scale up. As well as attracting users we need to get developers into Hive as a platform.

• Hive can be intimidating for new users. Hive account@love-scout is a bot that will suggest some communities they could join.
• Hive account@sportsbites is a new Hive front end from Hive account@blanchy that lets fans of various sports share updates and chat about matches.
• Hive account@biconomycom is a crypto trading platform who just joined. They have a Hive trading challenge running.
• Hive account@forykw in New Zealand has just become a Hive witness. He is running various types of node including 3speak and Hive Engine. These are things I would like to get into, so it would be good to see more information on what you need to start out.
• Hive account@beggars has created HiveTT. If you have used IFTTT (If This Then That) the concept will be familiar. It lets you set up actions around Hive based on conditions. It links with email, Discord and other services so you could generate notifications when specific things happen. It allows for voting and transfers too.

The Dog House

You may have seen a certain user spamming posts with messages about $HIVE having critical liquidity. This is the developer of the old video dapp DTube who fell out with the community some time ago so this looks like some kind of revenge app. It is obviously not true, but some may wonder. Hive account@tibfox thinks that this guy may have compromised accounts from keys used on DTube, so you may want to change yours. Changing keys is not hard and you should do it if there is any chance they have leaked. These days we are mostly using Hive account@keychain that is much safer than logging in with keys. Always be suspicious if any site asks for them.

I hope that Hive is fun for you. We have something special here that can be better than the corporate platforms in various ways. The main thing we lack is users so there may not be so much content for your interests. This is your opportunity to start remedying that. You can post about whatever you are into. Forming a community for it can give others a chance to engage. I keep saying that it is up to each of us and you should not wait for others to do what you think we are missing.
