Personally, I feel like I have accomplished something after every post and there is this inexpressible satisfaction. Yes, I do care about the upvotes and it, too, brings joy and enthusiasm.
For the down voters, is it possible to block them? If yes, you should do it and idk, why there is option for the downvote. Like, if you don't t like something or you have some personal grudges or jealousy, just go away man.
