Hey folks. It’s been a long time since I posted on Hive and I might delve a bit further into that in a future post but for now I’m curious about possibilities.
I’ve used Hive in the past to post new music with varying degrees of success. I’ve also looked in using crowd funding and membership sites, more recently Patreon.
The more I’ve thought about it (and I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time thinking about it) the more I’ve wanted to somehow use Hive.
Essentially I want to replicate the Patreon model, where members/supporters pay a regular or “per thing” fee in exchange for new content, be that audio, video, live-streamed concert etc but I want to keep those payments on the blockchain.
As I see it, one could create a WordPress site with some form of membership plugin and use to announce any new posts - these could be a mix of free posts and posts behind a pay-wall.
Where I get stuck is taking payments in Hive for the subscription or “thing”. Perhaps the “things” could be WooCommerce products that then use some form of blockchain enabled payment gateway?
I was excited when I saw a WordPress plugin called HivePay but it doesn’t look to be maintained and has less than 10 active installs.
Is there some other way to achieve this?
Do you think this would be a workable solution?
Am I barking mad? Probably, maybe 🤔
Please let me know what you think.
If you’ve gotten this far, thanks for reading my rambling thoughts. I hope you’re well.
