On the day when Hive briefly made it into the top 100 on Coinmarketcap, I received the following notification:
Apparently it's my Hive lustrum.
Now I was aware that I joined late June 2017, but this still felt like a pleasant surprise. Or, to rephrase that, it made me feel pretty proud :<)
Just so you know: I have never held a job for 5 years and I have had many ( two dozen or so? ) different jobs.
Also, two dozen times five is 120 and I am 40 years old.
Aside from that, I had my first job at the age of 14 or so and only graduated from Uni at the age of 25, so that's when the real 'work life' was supposed to start. I retired from the system, disappointed and burnt out, at the age of 34, back in 2016.
So you do the maths
Okay, I will do it. I worked for about 20 years, on and off, so I hardly average a year per job, although I held some jobs simultaneously.
So yeah, I am proud that I managed to stick to my Hive - and formerly Steemit - blogging and networking game, for 5 years now.
As is the case for most of you, I'm sure, I wouldn't have stayed had it only been for the money. I have never been able to survive on Hive alone, even though I have been all-in in crypto, ever since I began to blog on here.
I started with crypto, in May 2017, a month before I found this space.
It's just so damn addictive. Aside from that, writing is great therapy ( and I have always been a writer and storyteller by heart ). And, more importantly, this is pretty much my second home.
I have made so many connections over here and I consider many of you good friends, eventhough most of us have never met face-to-face in real life ( yet ).
I hope to change the latter, this September, when I plan to attend Hive Fest, in some form or another.
And, although I know that many of you probably won't be present, I am sure those who I care about most will meet me in 3D sooner rather than later :<)
To show how committed I am to Hive, I just powered up to 10,000 HP. Or 10010 as 10-10 is my birthday.
Alright that's it for today, I just wanted to share this not so little victory.
So much has happened since I joined this platform. Not only did I move to a another country, I also bought and sold a house, ended a feature film project ( unfinished ), started another film project ( and paused that one ), started on a book that led to short stories that led to a bunch of other books of which the first one is almost finished and another one was almost finished. And then, halfway through my Hive experience, the world got taken hostage by The Thing that must not be named.
Things sure have been shaken up and so have I but all of the aforementioned hasn't managed to stop me from spending loads of time on here, on an almost daily basis, and many of you have been the reason for that.
So thank you!
Onward and upward and, who knows, I might make it to my second lustrum one day ;<)
Much love,
Hypersensitivosaurus aka Vincent
