HiveFest 2020
GETTING READY FOR A VIRTUAL FESTIVAL

Have you heard? HiveFest 2020 is happening next month? Are you coming?
Don't worry, you don't have to worry about booking flights or hotels, or even paying for the event - it's totally free. Well, as long as you own a modern computer with a reliable Internet connection.
HiveFest 2020 will be taking place in AltspaceVR on the 18th of December
In preparation, I've gone in and set up my account using the same username "adetorrent" as on Hive. I also took some time to play around a bit, spending way too much time shooting basketballs in my yard.
I also spent some time in the Infoworld learning how things work - from how to pick things up, use props, etc. There are quite a few signs asking people to be courteous and respectful of one another. That should go without saying, but like on any anonymised social media platform, there's always a tendency to be trollish.
It was nice to see the same "block" and "mute" features you have on other platforms to deal with such behaviour. We won't have to worry about that in a Hive meetup right? We're all mature adults right?
I even met some cool people there already. Some of them noobies like myself, but some quite experienced. I met at least two VR developers with whom I chatted about interesting things like, er, cryptocurrency π
One even took me to a world he built within AltspaceVR, and gave me the power to fly. How cool.
I think I may invest in one of those VR headsets now. It seems VR isn't dead after all. I used to be into it way back in the day with Playstation Home. That was cool, but it remained stagnant and boring until it was finally discontinued. Nowadays, it's looking pretty interesting in deed.
I saw a boxing game that I wouldn't mind playing in VR. It may be the answer to my indoor workout that I've been looking for. I've been doing "Shadow" boxing for a while, which is kind of like VR but in your mind :). It'd be nice (and more cardio-inducing) to go up against Mike Tyson or Manny Pacquiao instead :)
Are you coming to HiveFest 2020?
Peace & Love,
AdeΜ
