This post will still be of the 2nd conference day, but more of 'in between' and after the conference day. More about the people I met and the connections that were made. I was told earlier that there were around 90 people at this year's fest, which makes it (nearly) impossible to speak to everyone, unless it's a few minutes with each. Maybe I should be focusing on that next time.
I already realized that there were some people I did see around, hardly talked to, if at all, and now put them on my invisible list (my mind) to remember for a next time. And definitely make up for it then...For me, Hivefest is mostly about the connection with people. And for others it might be easy, but for me it's impossible to truly connect with someone in only a few minutes. So with so many people present, there will be some I end up spending more time with than others. I think that's OK. It's life.

Just a few of the cool people at Hivefest this year
First there was , from Portugal, who was as nice as he looks in this picture. After I took all these photos (for the tags, so I didn't have to break my head about who was who) I figured that the better way was actually to ask for a selfie, but hey, at that moment, most people were still strangers. It was different as the week continued. We might even get some videos with some of those people's dance moves...Who knows?
Then here is , from Greece, who's also part of the
crew, and with that, one of the cool kids hehe. I spoke to him a little about how I managed to get my daughter's boyfriend to join Hive years ago, and he was even posting to the Skate Hive community for a while. Then I realized that this is something my eldest son could do too, as he loves skating, and wants to get into the crypto world but never knew how to get started. He didn't think Hive was for him, but now we found something... I'm glad that we bumped into each other and that it made me remember this cool community of Hive skaters. Now to get my son to actually post there...
Here we have from Slovenia. When I saw Bitstamp on his shirt I asked him for a job right away haha. Don't believe me? Just ask him. Anyway, this wasn't the only thing about him, but he turned out to be very knowledgeable about the history of the area. For instance, he told me about why there were soooo many really tall people in this particular area. I mean, being Dutch, I'm used to tall people, but in the Netherlands, they're more spread out, and Split seemed to have them all concentrated in one place. I was quite impressed. Later, when we went on the boat trip to an island off the coast, he told me a few more interesting things. It's cool to have someone who knows things that you probably wouldn't hear otherwise. It was lovely to meet him, and I hope this wasn't the last time.
This is , also from Portugal but living ALL the way on the other side of the world (I guess he couldn't find a place further away) in New Zealand.
I have never met anyone from Portugal who wasn't cool and nice. It's something the Portuguese all seem to have in common, and he was no exception. I had the honor to spend a little more time with Forky having a few drinks throughout the fest, and I'm looking forward to meet him again at a next fest. I'm not sure what he was thinking about when this photo was taken...Let's make up something: I think it's beer...It was quite warm in the palace, and we all wanted one!
See? It was the beer! already had one in his hand, so this must have been what Forky was looking at. Marjanko is from Poland originally, but lives in Austria, and his English had an Austrian accent. I loved it! Luckily not as bad as Arnold though haha.
He was here with his wife, and both were really nice, and great people to talk to. See you next time I hope!
This lovely lady is (
's wife). She's as cool and friendly as she looks.
Unfortunately, I didn't get much of a chance to talk to her this time around, but I'll make sure to make up for that the next time!
Next up we have from Germany, who seemed to be one of the youngest attendees (aside from the Bombkids and one of the cutest babies that was there too). But don't let the age fool you! I got to talk to him for quite a bit, and there's a good brain in that one! It was great hanging out with him and the rest of the German crew. Hope to see you next time!
I'll leave you with a few impressions from after the second conference day, as we all made our way to have coffee and pay with HBD first, and then find a place to eat because believe it or not, we were starving!
random photo of the building around the corner from the palace, just because I liked it
Some Hiveans on the way to get our coffee
I believe that some already had coffee, but they were a little overwhelmed with 20+ people coming there all at the same time, lol. The coffee was great though at Anonima Bottega Italiana!! got this business signed up and onboarded, so next time you're in Split, make sure to get your coffee there and pay with HBD.
