Change of plans for Psyonix
Many changes are coming to Rocket League. Specifically, as announced by the development team, Psyonix, the title will become free-to-play in the summer and will not be available for purchase through Steam. So, if you are new to gaming and want to play the famous game on your PC, you must download it (for free) from Epic Games Store. This is happening because Epic bought Psyonix last May.
As announced by the company itself, the gameplay you are used to will remain the same, but some things will change in the menus, while some tournaments and challenges will be improved and, at the same time, we will have cross-platform progression. All your Rocket Pass progress, your ranks, as well as all the items you had in your inventory (on Steam), you will be able to transfer them without any problems to the free version, when it becomes available.
For those of you who have bought the Rocket League in the past, Psyonix is going to give you various goodies including all the DLC that have been released till today. Finally, in whichever platform you play on (including Steam) you will have full support for upcoming updates and features. However, new players will not be able to download the title through Valve's service.
