First rugosa roses
On Monday morning I had a long list to try to get through. I got laundry started, watered seedlings, did chores, and decided to plant the tulips first.
I wasn’t putting them in without markers as I didn’t know if they would make it. But I had run out of good markers. So I went through the bucket of broken frames and found just enough to put zinc tops on. It took a while to get ready to plant and I didn’t finish until 10:30.
They don’t look so good, but we will see.
North Corner - Dutchman’s breeches and behind it in the Old North garden, sweet woodruff
Then I had to coil hoses and pick up the yard so I could mow. I got that done, changed the laundry over and folded it. I had an hour until lunch time so I went up and got the Kubota out and finished the cleanup of dirt piles at the barn. Still looks like a war zone but at least I can mow most everywhere again.
It was lunch time so I went back to eat and rest awhile . I finally got out side to mow at 1:30.
East lilacs scent the whole yard
I did the area around the wood shed first as the contractor had called and said he’d be out.
New Herb - Row 3, honesty volunteer
Then I did the west side of the yard so he could hear himself think.
I started on the east side of the yard and ended up mowing the pasture garden area Tom had mowed last week. My rider made heavy work of that but I got it done in the end. Then I finished the whole rest of the yard.
White lilac
East Shed - pink wood hyacinths
It’s getting pretty dry around here, we could really use some rain. This was very obvious up at the barn when I went to mow as I had dust clouds everywhere. I was filthy by the time I finished at 4:30.
New Herb - Row 6, lady’s mantle flowering
I got a shower and was exhausted. I snacked for a supper, got the evening chores done and was glad it was to be 50F and I didn’t need to light a fire. I was in bed by 8PM.
New North - honesty volunteer
On Tuesday my helper friend will be here. I will set him to weeding the Big garden and prepping for planting, finally.
New West - red columbine
I will start with the front pasture fixing fence, then move into the middle pasture.
West - coral bell flowers
It’s to hit the mid 80’s Tuesday so I don’t know how long I will last out there.
