Firstly, I’m grateful to Jah for making me see a New Year. Last year was full of fun, sadness, emotions, happiness and all. It was all about mixed feelings but I’m glad that at the end of it all, I got out of the year happy and moved unto another one. I’m sure this year will be better. There are a few things that happened to me in 2023 and they are unforgettable. Life is bittersweet so I’ve got the bittersweet emotions or memories for 2023. I’d love to give two exceptional memories of 2023.
One of the things that happened to me in 2023 was when I got posted for my youth service. God knows, I was extremely happy. Well, I paid for the state I want which is my state of residence, I paid a little amount of money and it worked out to be where I wanted. Some people paid for the location they wanted but still did not get what they want so I was very happy.
The night I was about to check my posting letter, I was shivering thinking they will take me to a state full of insecurity and all of that but I’m glad I was posted to the perfect state and even the kind of workplace I wanted even though the work is quite stressful and I feel like giving up on the job right now. I’m really happy because the job connected me to greater people who may be of help to me in future.
Another exceptional memory from 2023 was when I got robbed. I heard I was supposed to have my convocation on a Wednesday and on Saturday, I went to my father’s house to pick some files so I could get my convocation gown.
While sleeping at midnight, we heard some sounds and we stood up to check what was happening. To our greatest surprise, they were thieves.
We began to struggle with them so they would not enter but unfortunately, they shot at us and a bullet hit my dad’s arm. At the end of the day, we had to surrender and they were able to gain entrance. They took our phones and other valuables and spoilt so many things in the house. I can never forget and it is over a month now but I’m still finding it hard to sleep especially when I remember what happened that night.
I’m glad that no lives were lost and we even got valuables that are more than what were taken from us before.
Those are my two exceptional memories of 2023 and I’m never going to forget it.
