Since the hiveonboard site was launched, we've onboarded 15 new users so far:
If you're not familiar with how to get your own personal referral link go here: @hivepeople/did-you-know-that-hive-has-a-referral-program
Some have created their very first post, but many still have not become active. Each of these new users have received a 5 HP delegation from us, and we sent a welcome message in a memo. I am wondering though, if these new users even see this memo message at all. I have no idea if this messaging system is effective. If any of you have any feedback about the way we are onboarding new users, please let us know in the comments below.
Difficulties
I could see that Hivers won't view this as beneficial to them because of one factor: they have to delegate HP to all the people who join with their referral link. This is especially the case for people who don't earn a lot, or don't have money to invest in the system. One person has already brought this up. He's onboarding about 5 people per week, but doesn't have a lot of HP lying around, so this is an issue that needs to be solved.
This is why I think that the 3% beneficiary rewards should be implemented, because otherwise, people will view this referral system as a losing money operation.
If a bunch of people joined all at once, even my account could be wiped out. This is something that we need to really think about solving, and I think the beneficiary rewards could help ease this problem.
What are your thoughts on this?
For people who are onboarding new people at a good rate, then I think asking for a small amount of funds from the DHF, would be a possible solution, just to cover the costs of delegating 5 HP to every new user. And this can all be tracked and seen clearly in our wallet activity.
I might add that so far, some users are powering up once they receive a payout, and I take back my delegation at that time, so another person can get it.
I have not done any campaign yet, as I'm waiting for the dApps to decide how to integrate this into their system. Also, I'm curious to know how they will handle the fact that new users have 0 HP in the beginning. has a good system for people who join with his referral link: only when people write an #introduceyourself post do they receive a HP delegation.
What do you think could improve this system we have so far? If anyone new to Hive has any suggestions, feedback or comments, feel free to add your voice. This system is brand new, so it's important to find out what is working and what needs improvement.
