Hello, hivers! Welcome to my shop!
I'm here today with another episode of Mini Lathe Amateur!
In this episode, I talk about some accessories that are used with the tailstock of the lathe in general, and the 7X10 mini lathe specifically. The tailstock is designed to hold accessories that have a tapered shaft, in this case it is the MT-2 size taper. This is a common taper that is used with lathes, milling machines, and drill presses. There are other sizes in the MT series, the MT-1 is the smallest that I'm aware of. The taper is the same angle with all the MT series, the number determines the size of shaft.
One of the new MT-2 shafts that I recently bought is machined on the large end with a 1/2 inch-20 thread for mounting things such as a drill chuck. This makes it much easier to use a variety of drill bits with the tailstock for drilling a hole in the middle of the piece being turned in the lathe.
Here's my video. It's about 12 minutes long. I try to edit these videos to make them as short as I can without leaving out information that I'm trying to convey in the video.
That's it for this post, I hope you find the video interesting!
