I enjoy spending my free time doing a handful of activities. One thing I have always enjoyed is cross stitching. When I was small, my mom had me start out learning to sew on a pillowcase. Then the projects got a little more difficult as I learned to cross stitch.
One of my favorite things to embroider is name blessings. I put together a name, meaning and Bible verse to go with each one. I have made one of these for each of my children and I love them. I purchase the patterns for these from Joyful Expressions.
There are some great free patterns available on the website. My favorite one is the His Name is Jesus chart. I have made that one multiple times. One year, that is what everyone in my family got for Christmas! She also sells really cute Scripture Scarves (no stitching required) and a lot of other items to stitch.
I highly recommend Sandy’s work at Joyful Expressions. She is extremely helpful and quick to respond to emails. She will work with you to create a custom order that you are happy with. I have emailed her many times.
If you have never done any cross stitching, it’s pretty easy. You only have to be able to count. This is, of course, a handicraft I plan to teach my kids. Check out this YouTube video for a basic stitch to start out if you’re interested.
