I finished the final custom figurine our of 3 lineman orders this past week, this one a former Defensive Tackle from my old alumni, Montana State University, the Bobcats. Since my base figure company didn't make very many lineman poses I have had to adapt and make custom poses using parts from a number of different figures. This one was maybe one of the most extreme with part from 7 different McFarlane sports picks.
Matt was a large guy in his playing days, weighing in at around 300 pounds. He was a Montana kid, walked on the team and stuck it out for 4 years getting to be a starter his final year. Pretty impressive.
So in the picture above, the entire lower body was from one player pose (Heath Miller), the torso was from one (Howie Long), the arms from one (Demarcus Ware), facemask from one (Jamaal Charles), the helmet from one (Leshaun McCoy), the chin strap and head from two others (don't recall who these parts came from). You can also see I had to do some sculpting/putty work, adding knee pads, changing the shoes to match the Under Armour style he wore, doing minor modifications to sleeves and waist of torso.
My goal is always to try to match the equipment the player wore, getting the details is key to making a custom figure look awesome. Here are some pictures of his gear which you will see on the figure.
Shoes
Gloves
Here are the final pictures:
And here is Matt with his figurine, showing it off.
You might not notice but Matt dropped about 100 pounds after he quit playing.
Thanks for looking, appreciate any comments or questions. If you are on facebook, here is my page there which has all the pieces I have finished: www.facebook.com/bigskycustoms.
