Convinced my wife to go to another Oiler's game with me. We've had horrendous luck at picking hockey games to go to this year and thankfully we finally made it to a game that was entertaining.
The first period started out quite drab and we were getting worried that the game was going to be another dud. Both teams were playing slow and making endless mistakes. Thankfully we survived the first frame with no score.
Things began to pick up in the second period and both teams started to have chances. It looked like the cobwebs were shaking off and everyone remembered they had a hockey game to play. About halfway through the second period Connor McDavid pulled off an amazing play and put the Oiler's up 1-0:

A few minutes later Connor scored again and the Oiler's closed out the period up 2-0.
The third period was packed with action start to finish. Both teams were flying and scoring chances were abound. Thee WIld close the gap to 2-1 and suddenly the game was once again up for grabs. A few nail biting minutes ensued before Leon Draisaitl put the Oiler's back up 3-1. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins later scored an empty net goal and the Oiler's cruised to a 4-1 victory.
It was a fun night and I was very happy to have finally taken my wife to a fun NHL game. I have one more game next month and despite the Oiler's having a very poor season, I'm excited to go back and watch again.
