This is a space where the fear of toxicity or hate, which so often permeates other resources, finally disappears.
Well, I don't know about that. There's toxicity wherever you go, and that includes Hive. In fact, it's sometimes even more visible on Hive due to the lack of centralised moderation (we can't really just ban someone).
But don't let this discourage you. I like to think that Hive's first great innovation was the gamification of civility. There are many on Hive who disagree with each other on many principles, but in my experience you just don't see the kind of knee-jerk toxicity which is so common on other platforms. There are exceptions of course, but largely, those who do not respect others end up with extremely low reputation.
As a result I find that most Hiveans are extremely respectful of others. It starts because you don't want to be downvoted. It continues because it's simply the better way to coexist with our fellow beings in this world.
Welcome to Hive!
