Jesus promised to his disciples that they would not die without first perceiving the arrival of the Kingdom of God in glory: "Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see that the kingdom of God has come with power" Mark 9:1.
But what Jesus referred to with the arrival of the Kingdom of God, the empire or dominion of God's perfections, is not something that is described in the gospels, but rather in the book of the acts of the apostles with the arrival of the Holy Spirit in Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4).
First of all, to understand this, something must be taken into account, the christian spirituality has a different purpose from the morality described by the greeks, the purpose of greek morality is happiness but the purpose of life in God's grace is the likeness of God: "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect" Matthew 5:48. And this resemblance to God, in essence, can only be achieved through the gifts that the Spirit of God grants through his mercy (compassion, kindness, gentleness).
Jesus also tells us something special about this arrival of the Kingdom: "Everyone will be salted with fire. Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with each other" Mark 9:49-50.
Salt is a metaphorical expression of wisdom and fire is an expression of the action of the holy spirit. With this expression in the Gospel of Mark, Jesus promised the disciples the second baptism, in which they would receive the gifts of wisdom, knowledge, and discernment.
And this is the arrival of the Kingdom with power and glory as promised by Jesus, is the manifestation of the Holy Spirit with his miraculous spiritual gifts to extend the church to the ends of the world. The day of Pentecost, which was the beginning of the realization of this spiritual Kingdom among men, is considered the day of the birth of the Church.
