My husband and I bought our house in February 2016 and enjoy making it into a wonderful home for our little family. The house was move in ready upon purchase, and we were excited to put some of our personal touches in it. The inside had minimal work that needed to be done, but the outside could use some basic changes and/or additions. One of the first things we looked into was shutters for our new house. The window on the front of our house is rather large and considered custom size (hence why there were not nor had been any record of shutters on the house) which was going to cost us more than we wanted to pay as we got a quote for roughly $400 for the one custom size window. So, my handy husband and I decided to take on the challenge and make our shutters!
My husband chose the wood and began cutting to size:
Next, I painted to the shutters green to tone down our orange brick:
Now my husband is getting the shutters in place:
One year later, and they still look fantastic! I love the outcome:
and Bentley made it in the picture!
It cost us $20 per window to do it ourselves! Pretty excited about the outcome and the savings!
