This is 1st Grade! Are there not millions of examples
which could be used to teach cooperation and togetherness? Ones which do not focus on racism and prejudice?
We're only 2 weeks into the Pearson Social Studies for Common Core and I'm seriously unhappy about it.
What Business Does Racism Have in a 1st Grader's Textbook?
What benefit is it to teach cooperation through examples of non-cooperation? Is it not proper to teach what the student requires for success?
My Child has Zero Prejudice to Race
I take great offense to a public school system teaching it to my child. They're fortunate to be home schooled, yet I'm given course material with garbage as the content.
Harmony does not start with propaganda. Racism does not die when taught to the next generation. Children are not born with prejudices toward race, it is taught.
I REFUSE to Teach My Child the Principles of Racism
I'll be finding other examples than what is used in the textbook. The concepts the child is tested on do not include any of the racist material, only the lesson which was learned. (cooperation and working together)
How Much Longer Before Common Core Is Eliminated?
The majority of the home-school course content is great, the common core stuff is truly garbage.
