The Liberty Academy for Kids: TV Series – Little House on the Prairie – The Lord is My Shepherd
As I recently re-launched The Liberty Academy, I want to start referencing some of its contents, more specifically lessons and courses I am adding.
Some of you may have teenagers and I have a section Liberty Academy for Teens & Adults which is ideal for those who wish to access rich content for either homeschooling or enhancing their skill sets (including critical thinking).
Kids & Teens – TV Series - Little House on the Prairie
This is the second lesson I post for this series. It focuses on a double-episode (episodes 13 & 14 from season 1) called The Lord is My Shepherd.
This particular lesson is rich in contents and contains the following parts:
- Part 1 - Questions about the prayer 'The Lord is My Shepherd'
- Part 2 - The Ritual of Baptism
- Part 3 - The Custom of Saying Grace
- Part 4 - Episode-specific Questions (with focus on Themes, Story, Setting, and Characterization)
I will include Part 1 -Questions about the prayer 'The Lord is My Shepherd' in this blog post because I think you may find it interesting to have a closer look at this very popular Christian prayer. The way in which the prayer was written and figures in the Bible raises some interesting questions that we can all benefit from contemplating.
Here is the prayer The Lord is My shepherd from Psalm 23 of the Bible:
And my related questions:
What is a psalm?
a) What is meant by "He maketh me to lie down in green pastures"?
b) What is meant by "he leadeth me beside the still waters"?
a) What is meant by the "valley of the shadow of the death"? b) What might be found there? c) How will a 'rod' and 'staff' comfort me?
Why did God prepare a table for me (you) with my (your) enemies? What is God suggesting?
a) Why would God anoint my (your) head with oil?
b) What is implied with my (your) "cup runneth over"?
What is implied by "dwell in the house of the LORD for ever"?
Feel free to share your answers or thoughts on any of these in the comments section below.
This episode touches upon the THEMES of jealousy, death (or loss), guilt, God and faith (and perhaps even miracles) which makes for a particularly enriched watch and lesson.
So, feel free to share this lesson with kids, teens, or parents in your circle.
Thank you and God bless.
