I thought it was about time to share what my ragtag gardens on the homestead look like. You must remember we are a homestead in progress. When we bought this property we said it would be a 10-year project to get it into the sustainable homestead that we dreamed of. We are now into year six and it looks like we greatly underestimated our timeline.
My gardens are nowhere I would like them to be and I am an old and don’t have the strength nor the stamina I once had. The mind says I am 21 but the body says otherwise. So I cheat a little and have a crew of two to help with the grunt work, plus a cleaning lady. I can get away with this here because the economy allows me too. And I am grateful for small blessings.
These are not recent photos as I am not good at remembering to charge the camera battery. So bear with me and I will put up more as we go along.
As you can see the fountain is not complete yet. We are waiting for a solar pump and lighting for. In the background, you can see some of our bananas and plantain.
This is only one of 6 papaya trees and they are all loaded with fruit this year. They should be ready for picking soon.
This is a small log with orchids hanging on my front porch. Mama bird thought this was a safe place to have her nest so she laid 4 eggs that all hatched. ot a very clear photo, as Papa bird kept diving at me. I guess I was a little too close for comfort...
