When my #4 helper left at 5:45PM on Thursday, I was astounded to see how tall the daffodils in the South garden had gotten in less than 48 hours. At 4PM on Tuesday when I finished cleaning out this garden, they were 3” high.
I was also astonished to see so much snow gone when I pulled the shades up on Thursday morning. I probably should not have been because the predicted cold never arrived until mid afternoon on Wednesday instead of during the night on Tuesday.
That big pile of snow in the New East garden is gone too. Too bad it’s going to be too cold, only low 40’s or 30’s, until the end of the month. I sure hope the forecast changes as I’d like to get a jump on these gardens…
As the snow melts back, I can see more and more mole damage. I’m wondering how my fruit trees fared…
On Thursday morning I spent a lot of time on the phone dealing with various issues. I got the post up, and cleaned up the kitchen. Then I sat down and e-mailed to the lawyers on the list who knew estate/trust/farm transition stuff.
I called the wood guy and he’s going to bring the masonry heater wood just as soon as the ground is firm enough to support his tractor and trailer. I’m hoping it will be here in the next week.
Then I got a shower and got ready for my #4 helper. She had errands to do.
When she got back, we started spring cleaning the bedroom. We took the bed all apart and vacuumed both mattresses and put new covers on them. We dragged the bed boxes out from underneath and vacuumed the bed slats and the floor under the bed. Then she vacuumed the walls and the ceiling while I dusted and polished the furniture.
We took out all the books and vacuumed them too. I collected all the wall pictures and put them in the kitchen. It was 5PM by the time we made it around to the south wall and the closet, so we decided to quit. She ran the vacuum around the first floor before she left at 5:45PM.
I was exhausted but still had to get the fires going, pulled the shades, and make supper. I finally made it to bed around 8:30PM.
On Friday I’m going to exercise class and then my #3 helper arrives at 12:30PM. I had planned to get the equipment for setting up shelving for the next seed starting out of the cellar. But I’d never had time to figure out what I had in windows and what spaces I needed. I’m hoping if I squeeze 3 extra pots into each of the existing trays, I can get all the 11 trays of the next starting onto the existing shelving. I’ll have to figure that out.
If we don’t have to do shelving, then I hope to finish the spring cleaning in the bedroom. There’s supposed to be sun in the morning then cloud up, so I’ll be tending stoves all day too.
