On Thursday morning I was up just after 6AM and got the fires going and worked on my post. Once that was done, I updated the checkbook and after that, dealt again with some ongoing problems. My #1 intern brought up the 3 plant lights I needed to work on before leaving for work.
The wood guys arrived with the 2nd load of wood for the masonry heater shed just after 8:30AM. I got a load of dishes in the dishwasher while they unloaded. When they were finishing, I saw they were putting the little kindlings back in the trailer so I went out to claim them. They are what I need for starting the masonry heater. We filled 2 totes and started a 3rd. I told them I’d get the rest into the 3rd tote so they could get on with their day. So I have to clean up the mess in front of the shed before it rains on Friday.
I sat down for a while after that and then got up and got laundry started, finally. I kept it going all day and it was dry by the time I went to bed.
Next up was some lunch and then I had to redo the starting chart for the 3rd seed starting because I’d made a mess of it. I sat down for a while and then got up and got a shower. I had to wash up a plant tray to have an extra for moving seedlings.
My #4 helper arrived at 1:30PM and I sent her on errands. When she got back, we checked all the seedlings and moved the ones that were up to trays without covers. I’d been afraid I’d have to put a 2nd light up in the living room window, but it turned out they still all fit on the existing shelving.
She watered all the seedlings while I set up to work on the plant lights’ new hangers. These fixtures had a different system and it took us a while to work out how to do hangers. We finally got a system down and then ran out of wire. Sigh…
There wasn’t enough time for her to go get more, so we got another load in the dishwasher. When my #1 intern got home she took me to Walmart and I got more wire.
While I was busy with the lights, my new kneeler for the gardens arrived. It folds into a few thicknesses so I’m hoping it will help my knee.
Then we both made supper and sat down for another episode of ‘Pride and Prejudice’ before bed. Stoves going, shades pulled and I was in bed by 9PM.
On Friday I have to finish cleaning up the kitchen, get the laundry folded and put away, finish the last plant light, pick up and put away all the kindling before it rains, get BulbTone down in the cleaned out gardens before it rains, and see if the remaining fan works and get it up on the back porch for the seedlings. Then I think I will have my helper #3 help me take inventory of all the stuff for gardening that’s in the house. I’ve been waiting for the huge snowbank on the north side of the Tonka garage to melt so I can inventory in there.
So another busy day….
