Hot cat in front of running fan
On Monday I was up at 5:30AM and got ready to leave for an appointment at 8AM. I had gotten the laundry started before I left. When I got back, I was awful tired and it was wicked hot.
I’d forgotten to open the cold frame before I left so I did that immediately. I got something to eat, changed over the laundry and was in bed dozing for a few hours.
It was just too hot to do much. That was the whole day.

On Tuesday morning I was up at 4:45AM as I intended to go to the gardens while it was cool. I got a load in the dishwasher and was working on my bills while I waited for my brother to get up. I’d forgotten I had to take the truck into be inspected. I finally had to wake him up.
I also had to unload the truck of all the garden wood and clean out the garden shed so I could get the tarps totes out. My helper friend was coming at 10:30AM and the very first thing before it got hotter was to take down the tarps and put them away.
Garden wood stacked
My brother drove the truck and we stopped to put gas in it after running it for 1½ hours on Sunday. I went ahead and secured a parking place for the truck and my brother brought me home.
So no garden, so I was working on the checkbook when I heard someone call hello from the kitchen. It was my good window guy! I had mixed up the dates in my head, thinking he was coming Wednesday and Thursday, not Tuesday and Wednesday.
Well, it turns out there’d been ANOTHER scheduling mistake and he was only here for Tuesday this week, Tuesday next week and who knows after that. Sigh…
So, of course, I was all prepped for him…NOT! So I got up and started running around to get ready while trying to figure out how I was going to keep the balls all in the air: getting the truck back, working with my helper friend as planned, and washing windows for 4 hours, all at the same time. Sigh… it’s never boring here….
I’d left most of the window cleaning stuff on the second floor because I wanted to finish up there first. So we got those 2 small windows done, and picked up the mess and moved to my bedroom.
My helper friend arrived at 10:30AM and we went right out to do tarps. I had set my window guy up to wash down exterior doors with windows while I was outside.
My helper friend and I got the tarps off, measured them as they had been outside so long the numbers had worn off, folded them and got them all in the totes. Then we got everything back in the garden shed.

My window guy and I got those 2 big windows done in the bedroom when I was back inside and then started on the 4 small ones in the living room. I wasted time hunting for the tool to put the retaining balls for the grills in those windows, to no avail. I have no idea what I did with it. Last time I used it was when my brother and I did the outside windows, weeks back.
My window guy and I managed to get 3 of the 4 windows done before he had to go. I had arranged with a neighbor to take me down for the truck as soon as he left, so I headed out to do that.
According to the front porch liar, it was lovely out…NOT! (And humidity was really at 50%) And the truck doesn’t have AC. But the bigger thing was, had it passed inspection yet again?? The tires were badly dry rotted, it has no floor boards, the exhaust is a mess, and it’s had no backup lights for 5 years. And sometimes it even starts.
But as we passed it parked on the street, it had a passed sticker, again!! The ride home through traffic and lots of stoplights wasn’t fun. I started to drift just before the last light. I looked up, 30’ away, and it was red! Brakes work…
I made it home and didn’t kill anyone. My helper friend had been doing chores all day and had finished. So he decided to leave early as he has AC at his house, and it was miserable here…
It was too late to go to bed and too hot so I just sat in front of the fan being a vegetable on TikTok and Solitaire.
At 7:45PM I got the house opened up, got a shower and was in bed by 8:15PM.
On Wednesday I don’t know if my window guy is coming. I didn’t hear, so I assume not. I plan to get up around 5AM, start my post until it’s light enough, and then go out and try to get some peas planted! It’s to be another miserable hot and humid day so I don’t know how far I will get.
