Here ya go, , I can finally see the hellebore. It didn’t flower under the snow this year, and only has a few buds. Probably would help it if I got the garden cleaned out each year and fed it…
On Monday morning I was up at 5AM because I needed to get the Bulb Show post up and the Sunday post. I got the first done and part of the 2nd before I had to get a shower and go to exercise class.
I planned to stay after class for the corned beef dinner and the speaker who I really wanted to see. I was working on the puzzle at the puzzle table when the van driver came over. He had a question about all my trips on Monday.
He insisted the dinner was on Tuesday, so we went over and looked at the printed calendar of events and sure enough, it said Monday. It was a typo. I had wondered why they didn’t have the dinner on St. Patrick’s Day… So, no dinner or event for me. I have my helper friend on Tuesdays.
When I got home, I finished my post and sat down for a while. Then I was off to PT and when I got home from that, the contractor arrived. He had cut coves at either end of the bottom trim board for the window.
He soon had it installed and the window was done. He’d brought black paint and I painted the screw heads on the standards. Once they had dried, I put the shelves and seedlings back in the window.
He got started on the west window. Our problem with both windows is the drywall is either lower than the window casing or higher. Makes keeping things on the same plane difficult. So we used a few shims to make them more even.
He was well supervised, as you see. The contractor got as far as getting the trim on, then quit for the day. He’ll be back before the next seed starting to get the standards up.
A front had come in while he was working, bringing rain and raising temperatures dramatically. At 8:30PM it was too warm to light the masonry heater, so I just laid a fire for my son to light later. The temps were to plummet into the 30’sF by morning and we’d need it.
I watched ‘Nanny McPhee Returns’ before trying to get the house ready for the night. I got the shades pulled, the wood stove set, and finally got to bed around 9:30PM.
On Tuesday I plan to get laundry started, clean up the kitchen, make hangers for the other 5 new plant lights, iron the linens form my bedroom, and my helper friend will be here at 10:30AM. He will get errands done and then start the corned beef and cabbage for me. He also had some chores to do and house plants and seedlings to water.
It’s to be a sunny but cold day, only in the 30’sF. I wish it was to be 50’sF so I could be out cleaning out the gardens. Oh, well…
