Sunrise
On Friday morning, I was up around 6:30AM and got my post up. I got a shower and got ready for exercise class.
When I got home, I sat and rested until my #3 helper arrived at 12:30PM.
The first thing we did was clean up the kindling and get it in the house before it rained. Then we raked up the area.
Next we got the BulbTone out and spread it on the gardens I’d been able to clear. The rain would get it into the soil.
Once that was done, we went inside and got the totes of kindling emptied into grain sacks and she took the sacks to the cellar while I returned the totes to the garden shed.
Then we sat down to finish the hangers for the big light. But when I went to put the reflector on, I discovered my #4 helper had put the machine screws in her pocket and taken them home. Sigh….
So we got the tin out with that in it, and dumped it out and searched for screws the right length and thread size. We found 3. Then I remembered the catch all box in the laundry room. That’s where I toss stuff I find in pockets. It hadn’t been emptied in at least 5 years.
I knew this because there were old fishing tickets and fishing stuff in there. There was no telling what treasures we’d find. What we didn’t find was the 4th screw… sigh….
I had gotten out the mostly likely containers to sort the mess into. But we had a couple dozen other piles of stuff too. There was quite a bit that had to go to the barn, so we took that up and put it away.
It took us the best part of 2 hours to go through the box and then put stuff away. As I had 3 screws, I was able to put the light away. My #4 helper will be here next week and I can put the last one in when I set up the lights in the office.
The only treasure I found was a gold cord I’d been looking for to hang my flower fairies up with.
She left at 4:15PM and I was exhausted. I sat for a while then made some supper, corned beef from the restaurant where my son works. I got the stoves going, the shades pulled and started watching the series ‘The Darling Buds of May’.
I couldn’t get to sleep and was up until 11PM.
On Saturday I have to finish cleaning up the kitchen, get the laundry folded and put away as I never did it on Friday. I plan to take it easy because I’m going to a dance show in the evening, choreographed by my #1 intern’s mom. If I didn’t have that to do, I would probably have tried to get a garden cleaned out as it was to be a little sunny and maybe warm enough. It’s to rain all day on Sunday…sigh…
