I have been asked this question a lot lately on my Instagram account and honestly it's because I enjoy FREEDOM!
I enjoy the freedom to work our land how we want! To grow our food the way we want (chemical free), grow our own medicines, raise animals how we see fit (with love and kindness), and knowing that we do this is a HUGE peace of mind!
We paid off all our debts 2 years ago so we now own our house and 3 acres that it's on and it FEELS GREAT!! I am now a housewife and no longer work a 9-5 job (due to a car wreck and sickness) so having my gardens is not only feeding us but it is very therapeutic and relaxing for me to work in them.
I love the simplicity of homesteading! I love bringing back the "old ways" as we used to call it! I enjoying getting back to my roots and following the footsteps of my grandparents, great grandparents, and great great grandparents!
At first I was scared because I had no idea what to do or where to start. I did a lot of reading at the library and bookstore. Bought several reference books to help me along the way. Of course had to do my research on you tube 👍🏻
My husband didn't want to come on this journey with me but would financially support me in whatever I wanted. I started out with one raised bed 2 years ago and now I have a full blown vegetable garden, fruit orchard, Herb gardens, and flower gardens! Homesteading has become very addictive! I've finally talked my husband into getting chickens so next spring I'll get 2-4 laying hens. (I already have their names picked out 😊) and hopefully a dwarf Nigerian Goat 🐐 but I'm not gonna push my luck. It's taken me over a year to get the okay for chickens.
Now I just need to get a chicken coop!
The one thing with homesteading is that it is NEVER ENDING! There is always something else to buy, build, plant, or harvest. So if this is the path you want to take BE PREPARED but have fun 🤗
BE SMART, BE PREPARED, BE READY! Please like and resteem 🙏🏼
