Part of our farm is about 2 miles away from us. We have the original farm that we bought 5 years ago, which is 350 acres, and then about 2 years ago we bought another 100 acres.
This week, the farmer's parents began breaking ground on that front 100 acres. We are partners in this farm, but we have never really lived by family. We've never had a baby sitter or weekly dinners, or any of the small town feel you get when you have lived somewhere your whole life. We have moved all across the Midwest, and we are finally living somewhere longer than we ever have. It finally feels like home.
We went to see the new spot today. The kids are so excited that grandma and grandpa will be close by. They had fun in the dirt tonight.
It's always fun to explore our property. There's always something new.
They also picked daffodils for the table with grandma.
And had to throw sticks into the brush pile made by the new driveway.
We are so grateful for the support of these wonderful family members. They are really some of our closest and best friends. I bet not everyone could say they love their mother in law. :) She's an amazing mom, grandmother, teacher, and friend. So if you are going to have new neighbors, the best kind are the ones you've always wanted!
