I didn't have enough pictures of any one thing to make a post about, but I have pictures of various things that have been getting done around the place. I figured that might be the making of a post, a little of everything. So, here goes.
I picked my first carrots from the garden a few days ago for my once a week crockpot meal. I was out of carrots in the fridge and I didn't want to go to the store, so I decided to check the carrot patch. I found several carrots that were big enough to use. The smaller ones came from one of the containers and the 3 bigger ones came from the raised bed.
I got another trailer load of gravel into the back of the greenhouse to build up the floor a bit more. I can haul 1/2 cubic yard of gravel with my trailer, that's all the springs will take.
We set up another rain collection system off the back roof of the greenhouse. The tank can hold about 250 gallons.
The rain gutter routed to the tank.
We finally got the weeds cleaned out around the trellises for the hard beans. Now you can see the plants.
You can see some of the bean pods on the dry bean plants. The big zucchini plants are behind the trellis here.
Some of the sunflowers are blooming now. Most of these are from cross-pollinated seeds that the birds left behind last year. They have multiple heads like the black oil sunflower plants have, but they're taller.
My outside tomato plants seem to be producing tomatoes fairly well now. The front row is all paste tomato plants, they don't seem to get as tall as the beefsteak types do.
The old greenhouse is well on the way to being dismantled now.
Princess Shiitake was trying to help me count my carrots...
Last item. We've been feeding a feral cat for about a year now, maybe more. We had been feeding our mostly outdoor cat on the porch so he wasn't constantly wanting to go in and then back outside again. This cat started showing up in the evening and eating out of the bowl, so we just kept feeding it. It's kind of scruffy looking, but it comes around almost every evening.
I can get fairly close to it, but it won't let me get within arms reach of it. Smart cat. Not everyone is inclined to be nice to cats.
Well, that's all I have for today's post. I hope you found it interesting.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my post, eh!
