🌿 one of our pea bushes was devastated during our Christmas visit away from home. Time to start patrolling the yard every night to find their highways and follow them home.
Here is what a healthy pea bush looks like
I had a picture of Johana picking peas off this bush before we left but can't seem to find it, I'm so scattered these days. LOL
Here is the bush pretty much stripped clean on leaves and peas, maybe luck this was growing alone by our kitchen or any others close by would have met the same fate.
🐜 It takes forever to find their homes in the rainy season when everything is lush and green, but the dry season they are easy to spot and follow back to their nests. I followed 1 group almost a half of a Kilometer 2 farms over to exterminate 1 huge nest that was coming into my yard to eat!.
Here is a picture of what their little roads look like, they have big ants clear the way where they can to make travel faster.
🐜 I need to resupply my 2 different poisons that I use, and when I do I'll do a blog on the leafcutter ants with pictures and maybe video. They are quite incredible creatures and I don't like eliminating them, but it either that or I lose valuable plants and trees. 1 pea bush was nothing, but a large group can kill a big tree fast.
