Where did the time go!?
The past few days have been filled with busy moments and windows of opportunity.
The weather is "seasonal", almost warm, and that will bring the snow!
Lots of snowmobiles are going through the trails, and I need to patrol and make sure our property boundaries are being respected, and no damages are done.
The first couple of years were not fun. Some people were actually very disrespectful and threatening. Their great great great great great grandfather's always hunted this land and they had the right to continue. Of course there are always the curious ones, that want to see what the "No trespassing, Private property, beware of dogs signs" are hiding.
People are much better and are being more respectful, since I have been stewarding here. Once they placed bets to see how long I would make it out here alive. Lol I won!! Many still think I am crazy!
So, we found chaga. On our walk.
And lots of bunny tracks. :)
The fox have a pup. They are getting very close and brave. I have to sit with the solution to that. When the chickens are setting in the spring, it could be catastrophic for us.
The one track I did not see, and it saddens me, is the great grandfather moose tracks. Or any moose tracks for that matter. Grandfather is as big as a dually quad cab truck. I have only seen him once. It scared me, because I didn't know what to do. Or if he was going to kill me. They are so silent. Amazingly majestic beings.
His tracks are the size of serving platters. He had fathered many babies. But I have not seen one moose track this year. :(
The partridge are alive and well. The dogs love to flush them out, and I have seen them come out and eat with the chickens. They even like the fermented food! Lol
It was nice to skidoo and snowshoe through the bush. Next time I will have to take pictures. We are home to a nice pot of soup. Being here is so good for the soul.
