On Thursday my general helper was here. She finished the inventory while I was finishing breakfast and getting dressed. I got up late at 5:30AM so was running late.
I had started an inhaler, something I had vigorously rejected for 2 years, last week. The long Covid was getting worse. But I generally react badly to medications, and the inhaler was no different. My blood oxygen tanked instead of rose and my pulse was pretty high most of the time.
I didn’t use any on Thursday and had a much better day. I’m to try the other one for a week, starting Friday. If I have the same reaction, I won’t give it a week, I’ve already lost so much time this winter to being under the weather.
Once I was ready for the day, we sat down to check my math and to teach her how to do the amendment worksheet. Unlike my intern who hated math, my general helper wanted to learn this.
So with her checking my work and I checking hers, I think we got through the whole thing correctly. We finished mid morning and I started the mountain of dishes while she tackled more of the house plant clean up.
She pulled the night blooming cerces out of the jar and get the roots a good rinsing to get rid of the algae. Then she got the jar scrubbed up, trimmed off the dead bits and it was looking a bit better. I don’t know if the yellowed leaves will green back up, probably not.
She also cut away the yellowed edges of the prayer plant and the dead bits on the pineapple. She had tackled the dead in the fern by the kitchen sink earlier.
On her way out at noontime she found the snowdrop open and several more buds on it. In the very back of this area, another tiny snow drop had 3 - 4 buds too.
The temps continue to drop as the front moves over us and I had both stoves cranking by 7PM. It actually got too warm to be in the living room so my brother and I moved to the office to visit when he returned from my mom’s in late evening.
On Friday my general helper will be back and my helper friend will be here. Most of the work will be doing the standing parts of cleaning hanging house plants. With the 3 of us, we should knock out a lot of them.
