On Friday I got going early (with help of a cup of tea) and I started sorting things out in the clean room. When the carpenter arrived, he said he thought his 2 helpers would be coming. My son had said he might have up to 3 of his friends coming to help. It occurred to me that I needed 4 people to move the armoire from the storage unit. It would be going where this bookcase is.
So in case they all showed up together, I set to work emptying this bookcase and cleaning it. Unfortunately, none of them showed up. That will teach me. Sigh…
My cleaning helper arrived and she tackled the rest of the upstairs and both staircases.
The carpenter finished putting on the trim in the entryway and set about painting the porch ceiling and the white trim. He still had time when that was done, so he decided to paint the outside of the front door. He got 1 coat on, so we left the tape in place. He’s coming back on Saturday when it warms up to put the second coat on. He wants the entry to look nice.
My helper friend was here and got the foliar and milk spraying done, and then pulled the pumpkin vines in the Big garden. Unfortunately, he left them right in the way of the tent people instead of composting them. So first thing I have to go move them. I also have to go collect all the squash and pumpkins and bring them in.
He had found more ripe Hungarian paprikas and a Kapija pepper and got them into the dehydrator.
My son was here and finished the pruning and then ran the push mower around the trim in the yard.
I rested for a while in the afternoon, then at 3PM went out to do the mowing in the lawn and up at the barn. I finished about 6PM, had some supper, a shower, and was in bed at 7:15.
Saturday is going to be crazy and it’s just me and my son most of the day. The screen tent didn’t arrive on Friday night, so I hope it does early on Saturday. I still don’t know when the tent is to be put up. There’s a million set up details to be done. It’s gonna be a long day. Fortunately, the beautiful early fall weather is to hold through tomorrow, so no heat or humidity to deal with.
