On Friday the carpenter was here for a couple hours and got the wood for the upstairs bedroom wall ready to install. That’s a long off rainy or cold day project, probably for his helper. But I wanted to make sure that wood was saved aside for this room.
My sole accomplishment was this mountain of linens washed but not folded. I was moving awfully slow. Oh, and I did finish cleaning up the kitchen.
My helper friend was here and we decided on this cold rainy day to find the birdfeeders. He thought he’d hang them even though it was raining, but we discovered they’d not been washed up from 2 years ago.
For him to do this in the clean room, I had to clean off the flat surfaces. I was too tired to put stuff away, so I shoved it on the empty shelves.
He got them all washed before he had to go. Some day in December we will get them hung up.
A job I should have done on Friday but couldn’t was wrap up my sister’s advent presents. So first thing on Saturday morning I got started on it. The pile in the center with the “12” on it are the tiny ziplocks I put the food into.
They have to be squeezed down to 1.5” or less to fit into the little drawers of the advent shadowbox.
Then I wrap and number each one after recording what it was. She sometimes asks what things are so this way I will know.
It took 2½ hours to wrap them all. I get sample amounts from the bulk storage at my local store but you can’t control how much drops down the hopper. So I put the extra in a separate wrapped present with all of these.
I got it packaged up and mailed out by 11AM (they said it would get there December 1, we’ll see) and got home just in time for a visit from Tom. We shared Thanksgiving experiences and I mentioned there was no Alice’s Restaurant this year, again, and he went right out and sorted it out. Of course, it played right away for him (insert eye roll). I HATE with things do that when the experts appear.
This old laptop was dropped one time too many and has issues. It’s ONLY used to play music. Being a Neanderthal, I’m still using a very old edition of Winamp to play music on my computers. Hey! I know how to use it and it works!
So he got the computer connected to the internet and also ripped the CD so I would have it on the computer, should there be future glitches. He only got the original Alice’s done. Another time I will have him do the updated version.
Later on I got the stocking holder set up by the masonry heater. And that was all I got done, except reading or sitting playing solitaire.
On Sunday I hope to be more useful: get the linens folded and put away, start paying bills, and get some of the little projects sitting in my office done.
