It started raining around 4AM on Sunday. I’d emptied the gauge on Saturday night. By 7PM on Sunday night it read nearly 6.5”.
I got the butter packaged up for the freezer and made breakfast and did chores. The humidity and too warm house were sapping my energy. I had to keep most windows shut because of the heavy rain.
I realized about 8AM that I’d forgotten to close the cold frame the night before. So I went out to do it in my clogs. I didn’t get close and turned around and went in for my boots.
It continued to pour all morning. I had to take all the photos through the windows, so that’s why they are blurry. It tapered off around 11AM when my brother and I went out to do some shopping.
The front pasture had some standing water at 10AM. It was hard to get a photo out the window as they are west windows and the rain streamed down them.
We got back around 12:30 and the rain had just started again. It poured for a couple more hours.
My brother and I got the rack for the garlic hung in the woodshed alcove.I fell asleep around 2:30 and it had stopped when I woke at 5:30. The humidity was horrible, everything was clammy and damp.
My brother had also fixed the latch to the door to the barn.
The bunnies were back in the yard, as usual.
We made supper and sat down at 7PM. By the time we had finished and cleaned up, about 8PM, much of the standing water had drained away and the puddles in the driveway were nearly gone.
My husband always said we had a 20 minute window between mud and dust….
New East garden - the 1st cleome flowers
On Monday I need to finish the weeding in the Big garden and tie up the tomatoes. It’s probably going to be wicked humid and is supposed to hit the 80’s by noon, so I don’t know how far I will get. The gutter guys are supposed to come out around noon to see why the gutters aren’t draining properly.
