Saturday I spent the day putting up lights and outside decorations before the storm hits. We’d lit a fire in the morning to take the chill off but the sun came out and it kept the house warm until about 3:30, when we lit the stove again.
I have a hook at the end of the fence gardens that holds a hanging planter in season, and the kissing ball at Christmas. But it was dismantled and is too low to the ground now. So I put a hook in and hung it from the porch.
I put the wreath up and the swag. I won’t be making swags for the west side of the house this year. So outside is done.
I spent the rest of the day figuring out how to place the new brass candlesticks I got at tag sales this year. I found enough to do about ⅓ of the lights in the windows.
The hardest ones to replace will be these candelabras. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen them in the brass. I use them in the big windows and have 3 of them: 8 lights, 6 lights, and 3 lights.
And a first time ever event: my rosemary is not only alive for the 2nd year, but it has flowered! This is the one my helper friend and I worked on about 2 weeks ago. We’d seen tiny buds then, but after all the stuff we’d done to it, I didn’t expect them to open. But I guess it was happy with all the attention, and we have flowers!
Sunday I will put up the rest of the Christmas decorations and then sit down to watch a movie with my husband while it snows and blows.
