This weekend is our 46th anniversary. Normally we celebrate it, like very year, by a trip to the Franklin County fair. No fair this year…
So we’ve been trying to think of alternatives for this year. Our favorite things were the Ferris wheel (no hope for that), walking through the ag exhibits (ditto), and certain foods.
I liked to get apple pie with ice cream at one of the church booths and my husband had found a brownie sundae at one, perhaps a Kiwanis booth, he just adored. So we thought we’d try to replace them.
A friend told us about 6” pies at an orchard she visits and they had peach pies! Well, that sorted mine! We asked my helper friend, who is a marvelous cook, if he knew where to find superb brownie sundaes, but he drew a blank. Then he suggested a brownie recipe he had made that was to die for. So we decided to make that. It will be a separate post.
The orchard also offers art installations throughout the orchard, and different walks, in addition to their farm stand. We called to make sure they had peach pies as it’s a good drive away from us, and they’d just gotten fresh ones in.
So we headed out on Friday afternoon. We were greeted by their 12 year old dog who came looking for all the pats she could soak up. I got my pie and we headed back home for supper and brownie making.
