Sunday morning I worked inside until the grass dried some. I planned to mow the yard as early as possible as humidity and high temps had rolled in. The hay man called about 8AM and came out to check the fields. They planned to mow them.
There were only 2 plants left under the lights in the dining room window, so I took the light down. I needed to put the shade up as it gets so hot with the sun shining in.
I went out at 9AM and had the mowing done by 10:30, when the hayman showed up to mow. He did the front pasture first.
Middle pasture mowed
My friend Tom got a new-to-him Nikon SLR camera and wanted to try it out. This photo is one he took of the mowed back 40.
I like this one he got of the barn and middle pasture. It was suppertime and the front carrying cold air was rolling through with high winds.
He got this one of the front pasture. This is facing due west, where most of our weather comes from.
He took this one of the chicken pen. There are no layers here this year and all the gone-to-seed things I threw in there last year have come up.
The high temperatures this week made the shrub and tree flowers bolt. All the lilacs have gone brown.
There’s a single iris flowering in the 7th Fence garden iris bed.
West garden coral bells in full bloom
So far all the batchelors buttons that have flowered have been blue in the wildflower area.
This year the lupines are the main characters in the wildflower area. There are several stands of them.
Monday my husband’s aunt and uncle come to visit and I hope to get some gardening done. The front brought in 70’s temps and it will be nice out there. I am still on prednisone for the poison ivy, so am wired to work. I hope this is the last day on it.
