Driveway in mid afternoon October sun
It was very cold on Monday morning, 38F, but the promise was sun and warming up. I decided to hang the laundry out for the first time since June. Mostly I was doing it because I can get the job done by 9:30 and move on.
It was still very cold by 9:30 and I never got it hung until after 10AM. I’d planned to go to the Big garden to work, but never made it out until after 11 when the sun came out.
This garden is next to the remains of the walkway. It is the 1st Fence garden that was destroyed when they did the porch work. This snapdragon was the first plant not taken out by the machines and is putting on a grand show in mid October.
The goldy mum had gotten so big it had fallen down. I went in search of the special hook-together supports that were my #treasurefinds a month or more ago. They worked beautifully to hold the mum up in its usual shape.
It was this very weedy part from the hollyhock in the foreground back that I had wanted to finish on Monday.
I had dreaded reaching the bulbs in pots area as the weed had grown up through the wire. But I sucked it up and pulled it apart and didn’t even get cut on the wire! Now it’s ready to mulch.
So I am over half done with weeding in this garden. I hope to get mulch on it in the next week.
The next section to tackle, by the gate. It was done in June and partially mulched. I need to take the mulch off, move the dirt dug for the holes over to the bulb area and fill that hole in. Then finish the weeding here and re-mulch. My husband brought me in a load of mulch hay Monday afternoon.
I finished in what is now early evening, after 5PM and the light was coming through the trees in the driveway.
It will be getting dark at 6PM and evening chores are done then.
My son was working in an area that had poison ivy a few days ago. I try to get him to be careful when he comes in the house and touch nothing and put his clothes in the washer. But alas, he touched something, and now I have it on both arms. This is usually how I get it, from someone else.
When it gets bad enough, I have to take prednisone to ward off the ensuing contact dermatitis. This means my sleep gets trashed and if I have to be on it longer than 3 days, my mood gets bad. Not good as we are supposed to do Freezer Camp this week.
