On Sunday morning we got out early and started dragging the pen parts from the far end of the pasture back towards the house. We are starting in the area where they were in the beginning, the second week of June. This gives us just over 30 days, enough to break the life cycle of any pests.
We decided as they are now about half grown, that maybe we could chance not putting up the outside netting, just using it on the inside at night. We’d still keep the 3 hot electric wires around the perimeter 24/7 to deter foxes.
This shortened the time for the move to 2½ hours instead of 3+. It also gives us a little more pasture to use for the pen, as having the 2 rows of fencing took a lot of room.
Lap pool with ice cube September 2019
It was very hot on Sunday, 98F, and I brought the birds a frozen treat, found their lap pool and filled it and added a 1 pint sized ice cube. I also put an ice cube in their drinking water reservoir.
I have several frozen treats made up and lots of the big ice cubes. They will be getting them for the next few days.
