More cuteness – I couldn’t resist…
On Thursday morning I was up at 5:45AM and got my post up. I got the kitchen cleaned up and got ready to go.
When I pulled the shades up at 7AM, I discovered we’d had enough snow to turn it white again. It was upper 40’s and part sun all day and by 5PM, it was all gone. There’s just the old snow in shaded areas left.
I’d almost finished thinning these 2 trays of the storage onions when my ride arrived at 9:45AM to go to the Smith College Bulb Show. We found parking because I’d brought my handicap placard and we were early.
We wondered around the Bulb Show taking lots of photos. That will be a separate post. Then we headed into the cooler of the greenhouses.
I am a sucker for frogs, so there you are. The clivia isn’t much, but the ones there all had buds, but none of mine do yet.
I just loved the deep blue of the salvia flower and the photo doesn’t do the variegated plant justice. It really poked you in the eye!
We left about 11:30AM and I was home in plenty of time. My helper friend was already there and he started watering seedlings while I got settled back in and had some lunch. We finished thinning the seedlings and chores, and then he washed the kitchen floor.
He left to do errands while it dried and I was editing photos, as I’d taken about 90.
When he got back we went to the wood sheds and collected the little kindling for the masonry heater. There’s not much left out there, but we still have about a month we might need to burn…
While we were out there we checked out the hellebore on the north side of the house. It has buds now.
Then we went behind the Tonka garage to see if the remaining snow by the door had melted. We were able to move most of the snow and ice away. So it should be safe to work there next week.
I went back to the photo editing and he headed out to the New Herb garden to cut down more tall stuff. He now has 3 rows done.
But he thought he was coming down with a cold when he left and on Friday morning he called in sick.
On Friday, I have more photos to edit, I need to find the missing items on the attic inventory, and I need to finish the laundry. It’s to be a partly sunny day so I don’t know if I can get outside in the afternoon, if it will warm up enough.
