I got my very tired butt up and going on Saturday morning as my window lady would be here at 8AM. I’d decided to start in the office as those big windows are the hardest. We got them done and 4 of the 5 smaller ones too. The last still had the AC in it and my tenant didn’t get back in time to remove it.
We moved upstairs and got 2 more done up there and prepped 2 big ones for when she comes on Friday. During this coming week, I have to get the smaller ones done up there.
It sure is nice to look out sparkling windows! And the office will be much warmer now the storms are on. We finished at noon.
The forecast for Saturday night had dropped to 35F and so I made an effort to try to get ready for frost. My tenant had returned and he started bringing the squash into the back porch.
I was supposed to look for ginger and dig the rosemary but just didn’t have the energy.
I had planted Sunshine kabocha squash, the little orange one in the middle. That’s all I got of that type. The seed must have gotten mixed up because these giants also grew from that hill. These 2 the critters got and I must process them really soon.
The tenant also got the AC out of the window and the storm window frame back on. I got the storms in place but was far too wiped out to wash the window. I will have to do it during the week.
I had just enough pumpkins for the front steps. They will ripen there if there are not too many hard frosts.
When I went to pull shades, I found the Hunter’s Moon sitting on top of Mt. Warner. By the time I found the camera, it had risen this far. I was surprised my camera picked up the details of the face of the moon.
Tom came zooming in, calling, “Hurry! Hurry! Find your camera!” as he had seen the moon coming up as he headed towards the farm. I said, “That’s ok, I already got 3 shots of it.” But I went out with him as he got some great shots on his phone.
I got both stoves going and was in bed at 8PM.
Sunday my tenant is here and we hope to make progress on the root cellar, designing a system and buying the parts. I also have to do the mowing both at the house and up at the barn, so that’s 3 hours burned.
