Thursday morning I never got up until 7AM so I had to get chores done first: pulling up shades, feeding cats, etc. Then I started on the blog. I was half done when my brother came down and announced he’d have a short day and what did we want to do for supper?
Right about then my friend called and said she could come early, what time would work? Well, seeing as I had been sozzling and doddling around, I’d need at least an hour to make my breakfast, sort out supper, get dressed and ready, and make shopping lists.
Yes, lists. Because my brother said he’d be out real early, so I asked him to go to the wholesale club on his way home. So I was running around (figuratively speaking) trying to pull a list together for him to take. He got a cooler and left for work. We’d loaded supper stuff into it to bring up and thaw for supper, and all that almost went to work with him.
Busy inspecting the recycling box and supervising paying of bills
So I got my breakfast made and started a list. I realized I had to go to the post office, and needed to get some bills ready to mail out. Then I got the list started, and realized I’d left off and important item on my brother’s. I needed him to go to the farmer’s coop while up north and get 2 bags of bird seed. So I messaged him about that.
It’s now after 9:15AM and she said she’d be here at 9:30AM. So I dashed into the bathroom to get dressed and cleaned up and she arrives early. So she’s checking out the Christmas stuff and all the birds on the feeders while I get ready.
So we finally leave and get all the shopping and errands done. When we got back home, I showed her where the stars of Bethlehem had come up in the West of Steps garden. This bulb doesn’t usually flower until well into May. (I know the tags say Chiondoxa, I’ve never gotten around to correcting them.)
I got the food put away, mostly, had some lunch and sat down for a while, once I got the stove going again.
My Reiki person arrived at 2PM and we decided to do it in my chair vs the massage table as my back is still not good. Larry decided this was a good time to get lots of pats and sat on my lap for most of the session.
Around 3:30PM I got up and put away all the candles on the dining room table, as we’d need it for supper.
I still have all the candles in the office to take down and put away, then I will be done. Maybe on Saturday while it rains and rains.
My brother arrives home at this time and we went out and got the bird seed into the trashcan in the garden shed and then I start putting away most of what he got. By this time I am getting pretty wiped out, so he gets supper started and I sit down to rest.
I managed to help a little and we had a nice supper of chicken thighs with pesto on them, wild rice with garlic and herbs, and roasted vegs from the freezer.
Then I realized I’d not pulled the shades so I had to wander the house doing that.
I went to sit down until bedtime and discovered a message the lampshade had been delivered. So I retrieved it from the porch and found it was just shoved in a cardboard box with no packing materials. There was an inch wide hole in the box.
And I discovered a hole in one side. So I messaged the ebay seller and asked for a partial refund, as these shades are hard to find and I liked this one. But didn’t want to pay full price for a damaged one.
By this time I was really done in, so I sat until 8PM and went to bed after getting the stoves set for the night.
On Friday I have to get the trash only ready to go to the dump on Saturday. It’s to be pouring all day Saturday, so we will just take the bags in the Subaru on Saturday morning. I’ll have to sort out the recycling next time. We will have to carry the bags to the front of the house as it’s far too muddy to drive around back.
If I’m not too wiped out from that, maybe I will get the candles down in the office. We’ll see…
