On Tuesday morning the house was cold when I got up. They had said 21F for night temps so I had gotten the stoves going for that. But a look at the thermometer showed it went way lower than that, to 8F.
I got the wood stove going and soon had the office warm again. But I didn’t want to start the masonry heater as it was to be sunny today and we have to work over there all morning. It had been hot there on Monday as I had gotten it going at 2AM Sunday night for a second time. The sun came up and the house warmed up by 10AM, but it didn’t get above 21F all day outside. Love passive solar heating, when there’s sun!
While I waited for the carpenter to arrive, I made some Cranberry-Orange Relish. It’s a very simple recipe I’ve made many times before.
When he got here, we worked on the tile until it was time for him to go. He quickly put my spice cabinet back up before he left. Some of the kitchen has been put back together now.
The squirrels have found the birdfeeders, no surprise. I am still waiting for the 2 new ones to arrive. I filled them again today as it was so cold.
We went to the barn to search for more clamps and both cats were snuggled up in their bed in the bay window in the sun. I think they spent most of the day there.
On Wednesday if it was not going to rain I’d planned to empty the trash shed and go to the dump. The dump is only open on Wednesdays and Saturdays and it’s been raining or a holiday for a while now. But it’s to start raining at 9AM on Wednesday, so I guess it will be tile work all day.
