On Monday my friend came to visit and we decided to go to the stone places to see if we could find the downspouts she’d seen last year.
This gutter downspout in the South garden has been washing away the topsoil, even with the stones there. So I’d like to find solid downspouts that would direct the water over the garden and into the line of stones, as they work well.
The stone place we stopped at said it would be a matter of the snow melting away enough to see what they have stored near the quarry. The other place was not open for the season yet.
I have the same problem in the New West garden, but none of the stones worked well there.
There’s another downspout on the north side of the house that didn’t get any stones. It will be in a garden and I think I can use some of the decorative blocks from the front gardens under this. The other downspouts don’t seem to cause erosion or already have blocks under them that work.
When we got back, we had lunch of a beef vegetable soup she had brought. Then we settled into the puzzle. We made good progress on it before it was time for her to leave.
Tuesday my new home helper is here but I hope to be paying bills. It’s to get warm by noon time so I’m hoping to start digging up the South garden that runs along the porch. It is full of gravel and I want to get it out and replace it with garden soil.
The downspout photos are hers.
